CHERRY TIME IN THE EASTERN FREE STATE
We stay at the four star Protea Hotel in Clarens for the duration of the tour.
The highlight of the trip is our visit to Katse dam in Lesotho. The dam wall is 185 meters high. Water is supplied to Gauteng and hydro-electric power to Lesotho.
With mountain passes such as Mafika Lisiu at 3 090 metres above sea level, the scenery is breathtaking.
We visit various interesting places in the Eastern Free State, including a cherry farm, the annual cherry festival, 1922 Pierneef paintings, the Ash river outfall, Golden Gate and much more.
